  1. - First thing to look at is the aria charts - http://www.ariacharts.com.au/ If your looking for cheesy songs that they will know, i'd be referencing singles, dance, pop and some of the songs in the club charts as well. This is good for finding track names, and the club charts also have names of popular remixes. - Another source to find names of tracks is youtube. e.g. Search 'cobra starship remix' in youtube and see what you find. Depending on who remixed it, there may be a free download in the description, or a link to where you can buy it. If there isn't, you can then google that specific remix of that track and find a purchase (or free download if they released it for free) of it that way. - I, among others on the forum, use Djcity a fair bit - http://www.djcity.com/ However it is a subscription service, so you pay $90 every 3 months and you get unlimited downloads. It has alot of top40 remix style stuff, as well as other house, DnB, Dubstep etc. I like this as i pay one fee, and can download as much as i want, and I feel like i'm getting ripped off if i'm buying top40 on a track per track basis lol. They also have a bit of a range in some other stuff too, so i feel like i get my moneys worth. - Another source is music blog sites, and soundcloud. Search an artist/track with remix on the end, e.g. 'Cobra Starship Remix' and a list of songs will appear. Sift through there and see what you find, alot of them will also have free download links, or links to buy off itunes/beatport. Hope this helps
  2. Not for me lol Only one vote off the pace bro, everything could change so quickly
  3. rich whale
  4. some intense competition going on here
  5. Nice find. Not sure what the upgrades are from the video-sl plugin, but looks appealing to AVDJ's. Never looked into video mixing myself, but have seen people like Sampology AVDJ using serato and it was an awesome set.
  6. Not the best looking piece of hardware i've ever seen, but cool to see some official traktor collab for the ns6 for people who are fans of traktor instead of itch
  7. Yer the SP is a different, cheaper model. Not quite as good
  8. Only difference between the one and two's are the headbands, and the cable. Drivers are still the same The sp model is different again from the normal model though sol
  9. Pc's are all the same. I think he means laptop chargers. I think a lot of them are different so you can't plug the wrong charger into the wrong laptop. They may be both 13v, but could have different amps (current). There is a bunch of different standard plugs that are used, I have seen kits with adapters etc. To change the size of the plug, but if I were you I'd only use the transformer that came with the laptop as something could happen if you use the wrong one
  10. Yer I thought it would be similar, but I was guessing my way through, trying to help anditz get icecast working and the settings were all different. I'll suss it out and hopefully have a tutorial up by the end of tonight
  11. Lol nah didn't literally hit her, just pointed at her and everyone started yelling and shit.
  12. EDM producers use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to assemble their music. Examples of software used by professional producers include (but not limited to): Logic Ableton FL Studio Cubass Pro Tools Most forum members on here are using Logic, Ableton or FL Studio. tips for a beginner? -Develop a good understanding of musical structures and theory -Look at tutorial's on youtube in areas you are wishing to learn. Tutorials that show you the basics of your program of choice is probably a good start. -If you have a question that you have looked on the internet and can't find the answer to after searching in google, youtube etc., ask someone more experienced than you, whether that be a friend you know or the community on here, i'm sure someone will be able to help. where does one get their inspiration Could be from anywhere, music is inspired from many different things, including music from other artists For more technical stuff i'll leave it for the producers on here to answer, thats just a basic outline
  13. If you have a mac at all, i made a tutorial on using nicecast to stream: viewtopic.php?f=81&t=8740 If you don't have a mac, icecast is the equivalent of what me and hobberz use, and I'll plan on making a tutorial on how to set it up soon. Can't help with it right now as I haven't used it myself yet. Or if you wanted a video stream you can use livestream, make an account, download the procaster and its pretty straight forward. www.livestream.com
  14. DL'ed. Good stuff, quality as always
  15. DL'ed Quality as always from you man
  16. People who buy the most expensive setup man can buy straight up, then realise they don't want to be a DJ in a month or two
  17. good read +rep
  18. Had a real shit setup one house party, was in a big shed, and the power cable was coming down from the roof, half way across the room. Had too many people around the decks, then one chick tried to squeeze her way between the two tables i was using, stepped on the power cord and managed to pull the extension lead out of the powerboard. Instant silence. Crickets.jpg Ninja'd down, plugged that sucker back in, slapped that bitch in the face and everyone was all g. Wasn't too bad though coz everyone yelled at the chick and not me, and knew everyone there. Not a very epic save compared to lurk6r's, but its a contribution to the thread
  19. lol. good to hear it wasn't too much of an issue and you got it working
  20. yer a controller will probably suit you more due to budget man, you won't get any decent cdj's and mixer new all for $800. Therefore a controller is probably your best bet
  21. quite a few people on here have bought the behringer 212's and 215's and have reported back saying they are happy with them. However can't vouch for anything myself as i've never owned PA speakers. 215's - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-PK-B215D 212's - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/BEH-PK-B212D Another option is hiring speakers and charging that out to the host of the party to start off with, before investing so much money Edit: sol posted the same thing lawl
  22. you will want pa speakers for that kind of work. Active speakers have an amplifier built into them, so there is no need to purchase a separate amplifier. A separate amp is required for passive speakers. Active speakers are often recommended for smaller setups as It is one less piece of equipment to set up, and you know that the amp suits those speakers. What is your budget?
  23. Sure something similar will pop up man, i'll keep an eye out too
  24. Nice dflux
