  1. I have those rokit 5s and they are ok but I bought them more for my Dj setup before i properly got into production and wouldn't really rate them highly for a real flat sound which is what you want for monitors. This is more over the past 6 months that I've formed this opinion as my ears are learning. Everyone I talk to says to hold out and go for that next step up as a minimum to get something of professional quality. Adam AX series seems to be a popular recommendation. However at the end of the day not everyone's budget allows and then it becomes more about working with what you've got and learning how your speakers/room sound
  2. The 64 bit version is completely rewritten to be more efficient and has bug fixes, so hopefully it sorts the issue you're having
  3. Yer I'll likely get it next time I need it. Most people I've done collab work with recently use it, so it will mean I can work from my machine. Probably going to be expensive though, as our dollar is low at the moment and I'm assuming their online store is in euro or usd
  4. On my phone at work so I don't have images/links right now, but the day has finally come: 64-bit vst/au version of sylenth1 is now out for Mac. Free upgrade for existing customers. Who has been waiting forever for this? Also, who is going to buy it now this is finally out?
  5. Yer I don't think you can on that model. You don't have the original box it came in do you? If you had that it should be relatively safe to ship
  6. Dope thread bump, got this downloaded and watching now EDIT: I forgot how intense this doco was. Cannot handle right now after the weekend I've had. Will finish watching later in the week
  7. I'll take a look tonight if I get 10 mins free
  8. I don't have any experience with that unit. Is this something you plan on keeping/re-using after the event? You may be better off hiring an entry level pioneer AIO unit, I see you can get this one for $120: http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/collectio ... erBw3tvc_U Less cost, most people already know the layout of the pioneer equipment, and you're not left with a piece of equipment you may not use again. Most people who are going to bring a usb with music on it use the pioneer rekordbox software to organise their tunes these days as pioneer is the standard player in clubs these days..
  9. There is an over saturation of DJs in Australia at the moment (everyone thinks they are a DJ). It's all based on numbers you bring and not as much on skill etc. if you don't have a big name for yourself you're going to struggle. E.g. I play nearly every weekend in Melbourne and still need full time job to survive
  10. There is one copy of the file on my computer, but it can show up in multiple playlists. (I hope that answers your question)
  11. OK so when i download music, i put it in a playlist according to the month i downloaded it I fix up all the tags with a program called metabliss before I import to iTunes. Then I have a folder for each genre, and make smart playlists inside each genre folder for how i want to sort the music (by key/month/etc.) then at the bottom I have a folder called "playlists" where I put any list of tracks I want for a certain mix/gig In relation to fixing all the tags, I wouldn't say beatport is always right. Just listen to a snippet of each track and label genre accordingly. This is how I did it anyway. When I went through and fixed all the tags, I also moved any tracks I didn't want any more into an 'archive' folder. The less tracks you have, the more you know the tracks you do have, less clutter, etc. I got it down to under 1k tracks across all genres that I play. I believe you should do this every 8-10 months as your music taste constantly changes/evolves, and you don't want music you never play cluttering your DJ library.
  12. Well done
  13. Looks like a nice event dude! Would definitely think about coming, but I happen to be running a warehouse event in Melbourne on the same night ha. Ours stars a lot later than yours though (and finishes a lot later too!). Hope it goes well for you

  15. I use playlist folders in iTunes as well, but in a different manner to how oxy and labrat use them. Will post a pic when I'm on my computer
  16. I don't know much about spotify as I've never used it. What quality does it stream at?
  17. I'd probably take your own decks mainly because you have used them 0. Reasons: -you don't want to look like an idiot in front of the bar manager/owner -if something goes wrong it will be far quicker to troubleshoot on something you're familiar with if you want to get familiar with cdjs on traktor it isn't difficult. If you can borrow/hire some for the weekend and get familiar with the whole setup, then I'd say you'd be fine.
  18. Conjure floyd - maceo plex Absolute belter
  19. Welcome
  20. On the look out for an ableton push at the right price. If you see any used ones, link them up here. Same if you see a sweet deal on a new one. I want one but don't need it ASAP so I'd rather hold out than pay the $700 retail. Everyone who has one loves them, so used ones don't come up a lot. Keep your eyes out if you're browsing the buy and sell. Thanks fam <3
  21. I have ortofons atm, but if I were you I'd go Shure m447's. They track well for scratching and aren't too expensive.
  22. Phone while mixing at club means you're bored, and doesn't look professional
  23. You guys are both talking about the same thing lol
  24. +1 for kontakt Also a logic pro x update came out yesterday with alchemy (previously from camel audio) inbuilt, which has a sampler in it. Might be worth checking out. http://createdigitalmusic.com/2015/08/d ... whats-new/
