belated hello to your belated hello: ez
-
ez suby, sorry for late reply to this one. you may have some liquid/food stuck under the cue button but sticky cue in my experience normally means the microswitch component under the cue button needs replacing. You can buy the part on ebay and there are DIY tutorials on youtube for this sort of job but it's a fiddly one IMO. If you are close to a professional and they quote you a reasonable price for it I would have them do it. While they have it opened up it's poss worth getting a standard service/look over too. if it is still under warranty I would def get it seen to. hope that helps but see if anyone else offers more knowledge after this q has been bumped:)

hoddi was maybe making up for me... a belated "ez" to ya hiroshi. -
rca cables have only two connectors (+ve and _ve), XLR have 3. The 3rd pin connects the shield which helps avoid hums, buzzes or other interference your audio can pick up as it travels. It is more common to use XLR over longer distances or where amplified signals are being carried because of this feature. You are right, RCA can be bodged to do the job and some less professional mixers only have RCA outputs...but for mobile DJing you really want to use XLR where possible.

Mix your heart out comp - VOTE FOR THE WINNER!

Dis fred was hiding! ... made my vote. who the feck is the djim anyway -
ez, i may be proved wrong here but as a mobile DJ or anyone who regularly sets up and takes down their kit the setting up and de-rigging will put so much strain on all your cables that you may as well consider them a disposable part of the rig. This means the brand of cable doesnt really matter. I buy bulk packs of unbranded cables from ebay, that way I have lots of spares. The best option if you have the time is to buy the parts and solder your own, only 3 connectors each end and not too fiddly. Be aware: Cables for live musicians/stages and studios will work on dj gear but are more expensive as they have to try harder to be quiet as deal with vox. You are only dealing with line level signals and the one mic so no need paying extra IMO.

New Pioneer Controller... Possibly New Pioneer DJ Software..
imadje replied to CapFive's topic in Mixers & Controllers
Hmmm... aiming any product at christmas release implies bedroom dj market to me, esp as many djs seem to have chosen NS6, S4, MC6000 over the ddjs/t-1 as the pioneer units were more expensive without offering much more. I think the controller market is really hotting up and pioneer factory boffins have decided to release a budget version so they can compete at all price scales on the market. It'll be ok, it's pioneer, but i guess it wont be worth the hype they're adverts and "leaks" will try and generate around it. Always happy to be proved wrong tho -
Controller without the laptop - Stanton SCS4
imadje replied to SolDios's topic in Mixers & Controllers
cons: screen too small unit too small/buttons too close together does not sync with itunes playlists so I would end up having to update usb sticks for any new songs no demos showing how good scratching actually is pros: is small is cheap is all in one If I wanted a unit to use professionally I would not choose this. As a backup for mobile djing it may be a reasonable idea. Wait a while and see if any non-endorsed djs post youtube demos of what it can actually do? Def try b4 you buy. -

Feeling static from mixer - Djm 600 and 400
imadje replied to anditz's topic in Mixers & Controllers
are you attaching vinyl turntable earths into it? ...What Hobberz said above will eliminate any faulty power boards but if you are using turntables and attaching their earth to the pin on the mixer then you can eliminate them as faulty by earthing them somewhere else to see if the mixer loses the static. I have seen people remove the two pin plug on various mixers and attach a new 3 pin plug with the turntable earths attached to the 3rd pin. I'm no sparky so I cant vouch for how safe this is but i've seen it done and working. ...if the problem remains after trying all the things everyone mentioned above I would def get it checked by a pro though. -
I am a complete novice, have no skype account and have never used facetime. I do have a macbook pro that I believe can do both. I also have a need now to talk ideas over with possibly up to 5 or 6 other people at once. And I dont want to spend any money to do it. I'm sure it's possible so who can tell me the best way? cheers all.
