  1. Crazy show off or necessary?
  2. Hey Sol... When I get bored at work I always check out this forum: http://www.djforums.com/forums/showthre ... -PICS-v2-0! Basically pics of set ups from arround the word. Some look crappy, others look real pro. Have a look through and I'm sure you'll find some ideas. There are a few pics of tables with a folding panel placed in front (instead of using a black cloth). when lit up from behind they look great. You can also buy lycra covers for your speaker stands. Other than that, grab yourself a nice collared shirt. The T-shirt doesnt do you any favours.
  3. $60 an hour is good. Gonna need a few 80s and onwards tunes.

  5. Yeah...saw some back spinning last night and it didn't always seem to work. Just seems a crude way of getting the crowds attention.
  6. Aviary sounds good. Even better if you get set on the night!
  7. 1) Sunday session (Brissy or Queens) 2) Tour of The Backyard Project 3) Mix at the 'Next Door Project' 4) ..... 5) Profit!
  8. Got something on Saturday but happy to get along to a Sunday session.
  9. Four parts to VDJ are: Software Computer Controller (instead of using key board and mouse) Sound card Look for a controller that has an inbuilt sound card (most pooders have crap sound cards) so that you don't have to buy one separately.
  10. This has been mentioned a couple of times lately and I want to know more. With waveforms and sync it very easy to do using software but I'm talking about beatmixing/matching and cueing using nothing but some TTs or CDJs, a mixer and monitors. Sure its easy enough to do at home but who does it live in front of a crowd? I already know that for some genres its a matter of cutting from one track to another or 'scratching' the next track in but who can actually set up a mix between two tracks (with different BPMs), cue and beatmix them without cans? The only Dj I know who can do this is Peter Hook
  11. Technics have a rotary on/off switch on top of the strobe light housing (knob on the bottom left of the deck). It get REAL interesting when accidentally brush your hand past it and power down the deck in the middle of a mix. Just lift your decks out of the case to turn them on/off. Shouldn't be too hard.
  12. DONE If was just a controller. DVS is a lot more complicated with four different sets of cables to connect in some cases.
  13. I agree but sometimes it's bloody hard to access the back of the mixer in a crowded booth. If had a club, I'd wire up a patch panel so all the connections on the back of the mixer are duplicated near a more convenient part of the booth.
  14. What type of CD players do you have? Also have a search on Google for software that can 'fix' Mp3s. I can't remember what it's called but it scans the file, looks for errors (in frame rates etc) and can sometimes improve the stability of the MP3 file.
  15. Try burning them as audio CDs (ie only a few tracks per disc). Some types of CD players struggle to read MP3s off a CD.
  16. Very unprofessional. If they have to kill the music to hook up equipment, they should be playing first. Or arriving first to have the gear already set up and ready to go (and tested) before their set.
  17. Dont forget to keep an eye on: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-brisbane/dj/k0l3005721
  18. I think it also has a matching screen on the other side facing the crowd. Not much Dj 'presence' when you only get to the top of his/her head.

  20. I have CDJ 400s and you can use them in HID mode (ie control surfaces for Traktor Duo). You can also use their internal sound card with the correct ASIO drivers, but I have never gotten good results (latency issues) with this so am using a different external sound card altogether. The 900s should have the same capability.
  21. Got em yesterday!
  22. I know someone who started out with the Audiolines and they served him really well. I did a side by side comparison with Mackies and they still had a reasonable sound by comparison.
