Sol touched on a well known marketing fact. If you are in contact with a shit load of people a few will develop into enquiries. And even less into a gig. Roughly 5 to 10 percent of the people you get in contact with will convert to customers. So you can either increase the numbers you ate in contact with and/or concentrate on a higher hit rate. How to increase those numbers is the big question. Possibly try to team up with related businesses like photographer or party supply businesses to gain referrals from them. Edit: and like Cupe says. Social media the hell out of things. It's essentially free. Look for local groups. The world lives on Facebook these days. People have forgotten there is an internet out there.

Thought I would bring back to life one of my mixes.... Wow, what a really unfortunate name lol https://soundcloud.com/ausdjforums/kodiak-I am a fagget-mix Also I can't believe it was so long ago when I did this one. I swear I am going to get back into mixing again!

what music software do you use at home to listen to music?
Kodiak replied to yizzle's topic in Digital & Software
Give media monkey a whirl. It's a cross between iTunes and Winamp. -

I mostly use iTunes. People say it's shit but it does everything I need it to. I can't live without smart playlists. Plus I think it has the best user interface. It's the best I've found for dealing with large libraries. For flac I use media monkey which is the closest to iTunes I can find. But there is just done thing about it that doesn't make it as easy to use. -
But Future was always better.

traktor pros for me HID with cdjs without the use of an sound card like serato. the remix decks make for some cool live shit traktor cons its a fucking ballache when something goes wrong it's a pain in the ass to map 3rd party controllers traktor scratch vinyl control can be a bit unstable sometimes sound cards take too long to set up with a mixer compared to serato interface is a mess serato pros it's build for idiots. extremely simple to use interface is cleaner simple amount of effects easy to map controllers serato is basically plug and play serato cons sound cards are too expensive you need the sound card for everything otherwise serato just becomes an audio player with no functionality reason for me opting to use traktor i got it dirt cheap and i needed to it for the gay little pub gigs that had no decks. my Traktor rating out of 10 7/10 when traktor is working at 100% it's great but i've always had some kind of problem everytime i fire up traktor. the remix decks are a slight pain in the ass for me and if i was using it full time i'd likely opt for the launch pad with abelton. Serato rating out of 10 8/10 it's just stupidly expensive for the sound card. other than that, the pioneer controllers that come with it are pretty snazzy and are perfect for mixing. it's stupidly simple to use, plug and play and you're away. everyone is entitled to their opinion, this is mine Excellent write up from someone who has used both. I haven't. I've only used Traktor with a NI S4, and as Labrat said this just works flawlessly every time, as it should being the same company and symbiotic products. Really I would just go with whatever software the particular controller is designed for.

There are actually other DJ's in Cairns?
-
There were a couple threads late last year on this. From those I picked up the Novation Launchkey 61, same as Gandy and some others I thought. Sure I picked it up a bit cheaper than the one you mentioned but can't be 100% sure right now. Unfortunately I've yet to actually use it. Still not completely set up in this new place.

There is a paid version and a free one. I think ours is the paid version (pro)?
