You did install proper drivers not just plug it in? Plug device in, turn it on and them start the program. Still sounds like an incorrect audio setting, from memory choose the actual bcd as the soundcard.

Whats the BCD doing man? What software are you trying to use it with vdj or traktor? Reinstall ALL software drivers, program etc.

I always copy the tracks out of itunes so i can do whatever with them, i make my own genre and playlist folders.

Have you reinstalled vdj/the drivers? Double check your settings in vdj, could highly likely be a sound selection issue, does it have inbuilt or use the pc's soundcard. Make sure you plug the device in before you start virtual dj or it wont work.
