  1. That looks real neat man, you've done well concealing the cables, the black cloth and neat arrangement of your equipment and lighting makes it look professional. Also your dress code is neat and fits occassion. Also looks like plenty of people are dancing from the last photo, which is the most important part, good stuff
  2. That's a decent way to do it man, I started on one of them then moved to cdj's
  3. What others have said. Can't troubleshoot pirated software as most of the time the issues are because it's pirated. If you buy the legit versions for ableton and your vst's you shouldn't have the issues
  4. Welcome man Myself, Gandy and a few others work in IT too, quite a few on here actually
  5. Mac / Win ? I use XLD (on Mac) for audio ripping from CD's, and it also should convert between file types. It uses the LAME mp3 codec which is good. Best part, it's freeware I'm sure there is a win equivalent
  6. I work at a place that does warranty repairs for apple, dell, lenovo. If there is reasonable doubt that the damage is customer induced we aren't supposed to replace/fix it. If it was a fault with the lcd and it wasn't displaying properly yes, it would generally be warranty. If we can see cracks in the lcd and marks on the case its generally a case of "you have dropped this laptop and caused the damage" and therefore not covered by warranty. Also if you go the way of getting it repaired, you play the chance that you pay the money for the lcd screen, but then it could also be the lvds cable, and then again could also be motherboard damage, so the cost of repair can quickly get out of control It is a reasonable question you asked, with other parts of the laptop it can be strange what is/isn't covered
  7. I've never mapped traktor decks to separate outputs and don't have a laptop or soundcard in front of me to figure it out Paging wazza, can you hear us! I'm sure he will be able to point you in the right direction bud
  8. I personally use cdjs. I like using them with just USB drives and no computer. Te benefits of using cdjs with a computer: -retain the feel of using cdjs while still having the ability to access a large library on computer. -depending what software you use, you can get extra features, such as quantized looping (keeps your loops in time) -plug your computer into club system so you just take laptop and sound card Benefits of no computer: -less setup/packup -easier to manage, less hassle, less things to go wrong with setup -don't have to worry about a computer crashing mid gig -less to cart around, can rock up with only headphones and a couple of flash drives/CDs to a gig that supplies main equip (eg club) So basically with cdjs you can use with or without computer if you purchase the right stuff
  9. Welcome brother.
  10. If your on a higher budget you can go 3 ways (really 5 actually): -midi controller - controls the computer using an interface that replicates 2 players and a mixer all in the one unit. -Cdj's (with or without computer): you can either use cd's, USB drives or even your computer to store music on. Cdj's are probably the most common method of mixing in clubs atm. Saying that plenty still use the other two formats. -vinyl (with or without computer): can use either vinyl records, or you can use timecode records which allow you to control your music stored on the computer using the vinyl records. These days It doesn't really matter too much which way you do things. All personal preference. Do you have any friends that dj that uou can try their equip out and see what you like?
  11. Will pm you. I'll chuck one on my laptop, cd wallet etc, so only need a couple for now. If I ever head melb I'll bomb some dj shops with some, but prob just get andyman to do it, he lives close to the dj shops
  12. As said above, he doesn't label himself as a DJ. Quite the opposite actually, from interviews I've read he tries to label himself as producer rather than dj. So you can't really criticize him for not being a dj when that isn't what he is trying to do, or label himself as.
  13. He usually has one cdj sitting to the side. Never seen him use it, but presume he can
  14. He uses ableton and a midi pad to trigger samples. However i have heard a stories of his computer crashing, and then he had to borrow some cd's and revert to le ol' CDJs.
  15. I am getting it randomly. Refresh fixes it most the time However as soon as i go to post here it doesn't come up, so i can't copy an error code
  16. What do you mean 'set' as 32 or 64 bit? You can't really change windows from 32 to 64 bit without wiping and fully reloading the OS. In your case I would say not really worth the drama.
  17. ^man speaks the truth.
  18. Cheers brother
  19. You need Mini display port to hdmi adapter
  20. Already listened to this twice yesterday. Defkon, I swear you just got all my fav dnb/drumstep from all yours and spitfires other mixes, and packed into 1 hour. Loving it! A few new tracks in there too, track list if not too hard?
  21. Postahiphopmix.mp3 I do the same thing man, have a shit day/weekend, jump on the decks and makes everything better
  22. I was in the same position as you last year, i personally opted for the mixtrack pro.
  23. Anditz owns this gear already
