Don't get caught.

Last time I had a midi keyboard and tried to do this I had huge lag problems. Delay from pressing the key to noise coming out made it unplayable. But it was a computer running at 7.14mhz with 1mb of ram do it wasn't the most powerful thing ever.

Can either of those keyboard be used just like a normal keyboard? ie just played without any recording etc. I would love to get a keyboard to teach my daughter some (very) basics. Plus I would LOVE to get into production. That big M-Audio keyboard looks like a bargain.

I think the hipsters who have driven this growth would more likely go for an audiophile type of deck.

SX.... But they are both very different and the XDJ in particular has many specific features that may be of use to you. That would be why. Not everyone has quality speakers so listening on a variety to get an even(ish) sound would be beneficial.
